2010 Annual Meeting

The 2010 USPRE Annual Meeting in Wellington, Florida, was an intense two days of learning and festivities for USPRE members On Wednesday evening, the Meet and Greet was held at the White Horse Tavern, followed by dinner in various places including the Player's Club, where many of our members enjoyed Dressage Under the Stars Two senior representatives from ANCCE--Pedro Pons and Manolo Gonzalez-- who traveled from Spain to attend our meetings were introduced to members at that time The following morning was a seminar held at Janne Rumbough's MTICA Farm The topics discussed centered on the development of the PRE horse for an international athlete Janne present Gaucho and he was analyzed for his physical characteristics which contributed to his success as a Grand Prix Dressage horse Several of his offspring which are on site at MTICA were also presented with discussion about the strengths of the breed for competition against the warmblood horse The seminar was well attended by riders and breeders alike, including Erin Lohec, Betsy Ketchum, Marianne Lattimore, Raul Bucio, Theresa Millbocker, Sharon Knies, Alexander Zilo, Kimberly Boyer, the ANCCE representatives, Tom and Megan Reed, and more Discussion was informative and instructional Later on in the day the activities moved to the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center, home to the Wellington Classic Dressage CDI, where a Breeder's Committee meeting was held with Sr Pons and Gonzalez Breeders from the US and Latin America spent considerable time questioning and understanding the new ANCCE programs and their relevance to PRE breeders in the United States and the Americas Immediately following, the Board of Directors convened the Annual Meeting Several new programs were introduced to the membership, including a new Riders' Scholarship and a SICAB Travel Grant program, criteria for which will be posted on the USPRE website in the near future Annual Awards were given out, including this year's newest awards for Highest Scoring National Stallion and Highest Scoring National Mare Our award winners for 2009 are:

Horse/RIder of the Year: Grandioso III and Courtney King-Dye Equestrian of the Year: Javier Conde, President of ANCCE Member of the Year: Kelly Farmer Breeder of the Year: Rancho Armendariz, Raul Armendariz High Point Stallion: Farrucco LXXXIII, Rancho El Encanto, Dr Ariel Martinez 1054 High Point Mare: Carinosa CCXXXI, Dorado Andaluz, Suzanne Punch Randall 1085 Immediately following the close of the meeting, USPRE hosted a dinner and exhibition for the entire Wellington Classic showgrounds Over 300 people attended our event, which included riding demonstrations for the USPRE All Breeds Award Winners, Courtney Dye, a testimonial from Olympian Lendon Gray, a Spanish-style lungeing demonstration by Tom Reed of Medieval Times, costumed Freestyles led by FEI-rider and trainer Dr Michael Kohl A Spanish dinner of paella and many other delights was served to the guests, and to the USPRE members in the VIP Pavilion Following the exhibition, a band struck up the music and the event went into the night as the crowd milled through the display tables set up by ANCCE, USPRE and individual breeders [caption id="attachment_1990" align="aligncenter" width="268" caption="Courtney King Dye & D Pedro Pons"]Courtney King Dye & D Pedro Pons[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1991" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Kimberly Boyer & D Pedro Pons"]Kimberly Boyer & D Pedro Pons[/caption] [caption id="attachment_1992" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Gustavo Aldana & Raul Bucio"]Gustavo Aldana & Raul Bucio[/caption]
