Dear USPRE Members,

It is the end of the first quarter of 2012, and I am happy to announce that USPRE has found itself transformed by our new responsibilities and services to American breeders, owners and riders of PRE horses The first three months of this year have been full of activity and as a result of many volunteer hours put in by dedicated members, USPRE has entered a new era as a transformed organization From the commencement of Studbook services to the sponsorship of the Global Dressage Festival, from the success of our riders to the record numbers of Revisions, from the international coverage of our activities to the growth of our programs, from California to Florida to the North East, USPRE has established itself as the definitive organization for the PRE Horse, and an example for other organizations dedicated to serving breeders and promoting the horse Just this week, the first Revision Tour of 2012 is under way and new LG Administrator Tanya Duffey has successfully processed over 250 Revision orders for breeders from coast to coast Our brand new offices in Wellington, overseen by ANCCE Delegate and USPRE Vice President Alexander Zilo, with Tany Duffey, were opened on February 1^st, with January dedicated to the training of our staff and the transfer of the office records from Miami By 1 February, Tanya had made sense of the mountains of files she received from Miami and is now confident that within the year she can resolve the lion’s share of pending issues Our website also went through significant changes to improve from a news and information site, to a highly efficient tool for direct application for services needed by breeders and owners Now, with our first Revision under way and all preparations for that behind us, we feel that we can find additional ways to make the process even more efficient Tanya continues to be available by phone or email as requests for Inscriptions, Change of Ownership, New Breeder Codes, etc flow into the office, and the second Revision Tour is scheduled for September Our Dressage High Point programs for Florida and California are also underway, with Florida wrapping up with the final show in Mid-April The USPRE sponsorship of the Global Dressage Festival has given the PRE Horse an unprecedented publicity in the Sport Horse world, proven by the over 400 Wellington equestrians who showed up to celebrate our PRE-Show Party in February and watch a top-quality dressage demonstration featuring competing horses and riders iincluding United States Dressage Team members and alternates The success of the Florida High Point program was noted by the international dressage press after a recent weekend where USPRE riders Endel Ots, Mica Mabragana, Janne Rumbaugh and Lily Zilo topped every Small Tour class they entered News of the weekend was carried in Eurodressagecom, TopIberiancom and Dressagedailycom In California, the High Point Challenge has just begun and this year the contest will be held at 6 shows from late March through September in both Northern and Southern California USPRE Board member Betsy Ketcham, Regional Director Cindy Ramirez-Smith and Erin Lohec will be the USPRE Representatives overseeing this year’s series Please see our website for more details Our Regional Director training was conducted at the USPRE offices in February and we have welcomed three new Regional Directors: Cindy Ramirez-Smith in the West, Maureen Sharp in the Midwest, and Linda Reed in the East These representatives will serve as another point of contact for our members and are available to answer questions, plan events, and assist with member needs Executive Director Joan Mack, Tanya Duffey, Alexander Zilo and I traveled to Los Angeles in March to attend the Feria del Caballo, meet with other members of our Board and hold our 2012 Annual Meeting We were pleased to present a summary of our meeting in February to members on the West Coast, and to attend the Feria del Caballo breed show During the weekend of the show, USPRE maintained a hospitality tent and Tanya Duffey processed service requests on site As the year progresses, we anticipate a healthy 2012 in terms of breeding, if the first quarter is any indication We look forward to a return to former highs in numbers of breedings this year as our economy strengthens and the market demands more horses We also anticipate more successes for our horses in the competition rings, which will prove beneficial for owners, trainers, and breeders alike We invite all members to stop by the new office if you are in Wellington, and if not, to call in to introduce yourself to Tanya And of course, be sure to check the website often for news of upcoming clinics and activities in your area Finally, we assure our membership that we will remain committed to promoting and supporting the PRE Horse as defined by Spain and the Spanish PRE Studbook We find that keeping to this track has produced a singular vision for our organization and that our successes have moved us to a new level, far away from the conflict that has characterized other organizations USPRE has become the association to be imitated and compared to, as we have set the standard for our programs and services to our members Your membership fee goes 100% to the promotion of the PRE Horse in a manner that is fitting to this breed, and we appreciate your support and
