Sabine Schut-Kery and PRE Stallion Marques Hit A High Point

Sabine Schut-Kery and her PRE Pura Raza Espanola Marques XXXVI she co-owns with Rhea Scott got the spring season off with a grand slam at the Del Mar National Dressage Show April 26-29 dominating the FEI Division in the National show winning all three Prix St Georges classes With up to 25 horses in each class, Schut-Kery and the 9-year-old stallion earned not only some of the highest scores on record for a PRE at that level but also for the show winning the High Point Award Scoring a 707, 75, and 792% they impressed different judges in each class, including Stephen Clarke “Every rider's dream is to have one time that special horse that is able to do the job with ease and good quality, “ said Sabine “I consider myself blessed to have two amazing stallions, Marques and Alice Womble-Heitman's Sanceo ” After their big weekend, the California Santa Ana Winds kicked up devastating fires threatening many homes, farms and horses in their region Sabine and her husband went into rescue mode evacuating all the horses


With their business now restored to normal at the exquisite El Campeon Farms in Thousand Oaks, Sabine was just informed by the USEF they have earned a spot in the upcoming USEF Developing Dressage Training Session with Debbie McDonald to be held at Michael and Linda Fowler’s Epona Farm in Thousand Oaks, California, May 31-June 1

Schut-Kery and Marques were the 2012 recipients of the USPRE Dressage Scholarships for Professionals, with the now USEF Dressage Coach Robert Dover as the selector The lightly shown Marques was sidelined for most of 2012 with an inguinal hernia, and the Del Mar Show marked his return to the show ring “I have never before ridden a Spanish horse that has the ability to work as much through his whole body,” Sabine commented “I can create elasticity and volume into his way of going He has such great work ethic, presence and is a very honest horse”

Schut-Kery grew up in Germany and learned to ride in the German tradition As a young girl she had the opportunity to ride ponies and later a variety of horse breeds in quadrilles and equestrian shows Her work in the entertainment business also provided her with extensive experience training and handling stallions She apprenticed with Jean Bemelmans, now known as the coach of the Spanish Olympic Team to earn her Bereiter distinction in 1989 Continuing to receive intensive training from Stephanie Meyer-Biss, Schut-Kery moved to the US, where she worked for Proud Meadows Friesians becoming known for her breathtaking performances across the country including Dressage at Devon But it was not just for entertainment, as Sabine and the Proud Meadows Friesians also earned a multitude of  USDF Horse of the Year awards Always impressing the judges, it was often mentioned that they hoped to see Sabine on more traditional breeds for high performance dressage  Currently working with Christine Traurig, Schut-Kery has shown the judges that her PRE Stallion excellently trained and has world-class gaits, is a serious horse for the future in US Dressage
