Last weekend at the historic USEF headquarters in Gladstone, New Jersey, USPRE-sponsored Rachel Chowanec was pinned the National Reserve Champion Junior Rider for the United States Her imported PRE gelding, Embrujado XI, of the Evento line, has been her partner for three years, during which time they have been quietly moving up the ranks through Regional Championships, NAJYRC finals and now the ultimate challenge, the Festival of Champions! Rachel's scores of 67189 in the Team Test, and 68053 set her apart from the rest of the competitors with only one exception She was outscored both days by highly competitive rides by Kya Endreson and Pik L Pik L is one of the United States most famous warmblood breeding stallions, having served on several adult Pan American Teams and a number of Junior Championships prior to this one

Rachel and Embrujado are members of USPRE and have been riding with the USPRE symbol on her pads for two years She was last year's recipient of the USPRE Youth Rider Scholarship and we are thrilled with the results of this "investment" in this young rider Rachel and "Mouse" have changed the American landscape in Dressage--and we can now see more and more talented young riders selecting PRE horses for their partners and more successes for the breed coming with these future stars It is USPRE's belief that all winners' podiums should include riders of PREs, and only a few years ago, Rociero XV and Kristina Harrison were the first to do so, achieving a Third Place distinction at the Grand Prix in Gladstone  We applaud Rachel Chowanec and Embrujado XI, and the coach and Mouse's owner Lendon Gray, for being the United States' first Reserve National Champions on a PRE Horse!
